CoESS had the pleasure to attend the annual meeting of the EU Undeclared Work Platform at the European Labour Authority (ELA) in Bratislava. In collaboration with its trade union partner UNI Europa, CoESS supports the work of ELA to enhance knowledge and build capacities of labour inspectorates on how to tackle undeclared, and notably underdeclared, work in private security services.
Concretely, CoESS and UNI Europa supported the ELA in mapping undeclared and under-declared work in the security services sector — and, crucially, the drivers behind it, as well as good practices from authorities and Social Partners tackling the issue.
Undeclared work doesn’t just harm workers health and social protection - it also undermines service quality and public security. The ELA’s activities bring important value to the security services industry, workers and society. Next year, CoESS looks forward to a dedicated peer-learning workshop with national labour inspectorates in Bratislava.
